Wow, just take a second to think about this.. Thanksgiving is this Thursday. Can you believe that? It is so crazy how fast time goes by. It is going to be Christmas before we know it!
Before I forget I am going to answer some of moms questions. I haven't gotten mail from anyone for the last couple weeks, I haven't gotten a package from Sterling either! I didn't know that he was sending me a package! I am looking forward to getting it :) We haven't checked the mail yet today though. So maybe it will be here! And yes, we get to celebrate Thanksgiving. The Senior couples are putting together an awesome meal for us. It is super expensive though. I think they said that the Turkey alone was $100. Ouch.. We are all putting together some money for that.
So I have a lot to say today, so I will do my best to get everything in. Thank you so much for your emails. It is really nice to be able to hear from you every week. I like to hear about what's happening back home. Dads emails always crack me up. The restaurant is just too exciting of a place! So this last week was AWESOME. We had so many cool things happen. If you have already looked at the pictures then you can see what happened. Meriana was finally baptized! It was really cool, because she wanted to be baptized in the Ocean. That almost never works out and even more surprisingly, she wanted me to baptize her! I couldn't tell you how amazing of an experience it was. There were only 10 of us at the baptism. Just Merianas family, a senior couple, our branch president, and a couple of her friends. We had the baptism service right next to the water overlooking the ocean. It was really cool. I will never forget the way I felt when she came up out of the water. She was a brand new person, fully cleansed from sin. She was a new member of the church, and even more importantly, a Daughter of God. On Sunday, I was also able to confirm her a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Now Jasty's family is a complete family in the Church, and they are paving the road that generations will be able to follow. How amazing is that??
Since I came out on my mission, I have been learning more and more how much God's hand is in the details of our lives. He is constantly trying to form us into the people that he needs us to be. He is ALWAYS there, and he is ALWAYS leading the way, all we have to do is humbly follow in his footsteps, and trust in his loving hand. I have been learning that the Lord is 100% in control of missionary work. HE prepares the people, and HE speaks through us. We are only instruments to be used in his hands. Just like Ammon says in Alma 26, "Yea, I know that I am nothing, as to my strength I am weak, therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God. For in his strength I can do all things." This is a lesson that I have been in the process of learning since day 1 in the MTC.
The language is coming along really well. I am finally starting to get a grip on it. If you haven't noticed, learning this language is starting to effect my grammar. But that's alright. I will get it back! I still have a long, long way to go, but I am just grateful that I am starting to be able to teach these people! I have to get going now, but just know that I am doing well. Life isn't easy, but it is 100% worth it. Mom, Dad, Kaden, Easton, Dawson, Jaymin, and Calvin. I love you. I miss you. I hope that you are all doing great,. and that you know that I love you! Take care my friends! Mihmi Keliahl! (Stay Strong!)
Love your Son, Brother, and Friend,
Elder Dallin A Lyman
P.S. I am working on a letter for Kaden. IDK if I will be able to get it off this week, but I will try to get it sent next week!
